Let’s Get Organized!

(That’s me coming back with a bang).

Hello, ladies and gents and happy November 1st! I love November, its such a calm month, a month to reflect on the year and yourself and be thankful for everything you have and how far you’ve come. It’s also the calm before the storm of Christmas!

As you may have noticed I didn’t write last week and that is because I was getting things ready for Halloween and for my 1,000 follower giveaway! Official social media announcement goes out Monday November 6th.
But wow, how exciting! There’s a thousand (and then some) of you chickens out there following along with me, I really appreciate it, always.

So I did a poll on my twitter (@saynthingsblog) to decide what to talk about today and you guys spoke and your favorite blogger listened.

Today’s topic is all about organization, specifically in your room.

Now I know things can get hard and hectic during the week so this is a combination of things I do daily to stay organized and things I researched which I feel could help me, you and are also attainable things to accomplish.

So without any further hesitation let’s get to it!

Put your laundry away

I am the queen of leaving my laundry on my bed for days, yes I admit it, days. I have gotten better though. What I tell myself is “the faster you put it away the faster it will get done.” I also say “your room will look so clean and not messy!” and last one “don’t be a lazy piece of poop and do this, Sayward.” So yeah, that usually gets it done. I have found some cool tricks to help if those don’t.

  • Listening to music. I go HARD when I’m folding my laundry, its a full blown concert while folding my underwear.
  • Sometimes I time myself. This is awesome because I’ll either go really fats to see how fast I can do it or if I take forever I can reflect on the time so I won’t do it again and learn. People it shouldn’t take hours to fold one basket of clothes (yes, this is me, I am with you, we are the same person, no shame at all as long as you get better homie.)

    Make your bed

In my post about The Monday Struggles you’ll remember me talking about how important it is to make your bed to have a good day, well it applies here too. Making your bed somehow cancels out the mess in your room and once you get that habit down packed out can do pretty much anything. So start making your bed and remember it doesn’t have to be perfect everyday, just throw the comforter up and add the pillows as a start. Soon you’ll want to be perfect with it because it really does look nice and make your room look good.

Put your items back where they go

This applies to everything, shoes, video games, makeup, toys, clothes anything you can think of it applies to you. Everything in your life should have a home. So make sure when it’s not in use you put it back in it’s specific spot. For example, when you come home and you go to take your shoes off, don’t leave them at the foot of your bed before you dive into it, take them off and put them in the closet, there’s absolutely no extra energy exerted, so just do it.

Frequently used items get their own place

We all have things we use everyday like our phones, laptops, depending on the season, our favorite jackets. By having a designated area for this stuff makes your life more organized and less cluttered instead of leaving them on the floor or putting them back in non accessible places. Me for instance, I have a desk in my room and so I usually leave everything there. My clothes I’m going to wear the next day go on the chair. My laptop is charging so when I’m ready to go I can pack it up. My phone charges there as well so it forces me to get out of bed in the morning when my alarm goes off, yeah I have this whole routine down (took me only my whole life).

You see my point right?

If you don’t have a desk in your room you could use your dresser or hang your clothes on your door knob so you know what you’re wearing.

Hide your charging cords

I have a HUGE problem with this and I’m trying to figure out a way to hide my 10 ft charging cord but that’s a lot if cord man. So I have been looking at DIY projects and other purchasable options. Cords are the messiest looking things ever, so hiding them is the best option. Here is some inspiration I’m looking at.

Realistically I would purchase this one, the other one is just really cute

Frequently declutter

To be really clean and organized is to frequently declutter your space. Maybe once a month or whenever you can, try to really get rid of some things you don’t use anymore. Even if its your nightstand draw on a Friday afternoon before you go out. Taking 5 minutes to throw the extra junk away will really help to keep your head and room organized. The less little nick knacks you have the easier it is to stay organized.

Ok everyone! That’s what I got for you this time. I hope this information helps and let me know if it does or things you do! I would love to try them out. I’m trying I change my life so let’s do it together.

Stay tuned for more fun things happening on the blog! I can’t wait to share them with you!

  1. I do these things too! I can’t settle unless my bed is made and I like to declutter every two weeks or so as I’m a bit OCD. Loved these post!

  2. These are all great tips! I admit that if I don’t do some of these right away, I start to procrastinate and it will take me a moment to get back to them. But I always try to put my laundry away and make my bed. I can’t stand a messy room.

  3. I really need to do these things. My room is a mess! I have an excuse at the moment though, I broke my back and bending over doesn’t feel very nice and I can’t lift heavy stuff.

  4. I totally agree about how much better you feel once the clothes are away and the bed is made!!!!!! The bf and I have huge tidy ups every Sunday and we always feel so much better x
